Be Active Physically Everyday

Physical activity is the movement of the body that uses energy. Walking, gardening, briskly pushing a baby stroller, climbing the stairs, bicycling, or walking the dog are all good examples of being active.

Physical activity and exercise can have immediate and long term health benefits. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life. A lifestyle that is active includes physical activity like walking more than three miles per day at 3 to 4 miles an hour.

 

Body Mass Index

This is one of the basic references to check whether you are overweight and to know if you are living a healthy lifestyle. Body mass index (BMI) is a common tool for deciding whether a person has an appropriate body weight. It measures a person’s weight in relation to their height.

  • A BMI of less than 18.5 means that a person is underweight.
  • A BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9 is ideal.
  • A BMI of between 25 and 29.9 is overweight. A BMI over 30 indicates obesity.

Body Mass Index is a simple calculation using a person’s height and weight. The formula is BMI = kg/m2 where kg is a person’s weight in kilograms and m2 is their height in meters squared. A BMI of 25.0 or more is overweight, while the healthy range is 18.5 to 24.9. BMI applies to most adults 18-65 years

 

Avoid the use of tobacco

If you are a smoker you will never be able to attain to be living a healthy life. In smoking, your lungs can be very badly affected. You will be contracted with coughs, colds, wheezing, and asthma are just the start.

Smoking can cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer. There are about 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). So if you want to live a healthy life better refrain from taking tobacco at all.

 

Take Alcohol In Moderation

Alcohol consumption can have a pervasive impact on health and well-being and even light drinking is associated with certain adverse effects. If you consume more than the standard drink, it will greatly affect your system and this will not lead you to a healthy lifestyle.

Many people are unaware of what constitutes a standard drink and how to use such a measure to gauge their alcohol intake.  One 12-ounce beer with about 5 percent of alcohol content is a good example of a standard drink. Five ounces of wine and 1.5 ounces of 80-proof (40 percent alcohol) distilled spirits or liquor are also examples of one standard drink.

Alcohol’s intoxicating effects will be experienced differently as consumption increases. As a person drinks more alcohol, their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) increases. So if you want to live a healthy lifestyle just follow this standard, and you will have no problem with your health.

Vitamin D is one vitamin that your body needs to say that you are living a healthy lifestyle. There are two ways where you can get vitamin D, one is by exposing your bare skin to sunlight and two by taking vitamin D supplements. The right amount of vitamin D for your body can not be taken from the food we eat but need to be supplemented by other means.

Studies show the best time to expose your bare skin to sunlight is between 11 am and 1 pm since the wavelength of ultraviolet B (UVB) rays is 290-320nm during this period and this is so essential for your skin to make vitamin D.
